Bombed is a photographic roaming in port cities rebuilt north-west Europe (Saint-Nazaire, Lorient, Brest, Le Havre, Dunkirk, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Hamburg). Destruction, abandonment, adaptations mark history of those cities that is grafted onto an idea of permanence.
I wanted to experience this permanence of basic images that permeate our collective unconscious, permanently setting look with the contemporary look of a site devoted to globalization imposed by radical change.
A documentary approach to urban architecture and port areas mingles a more organic vision in contact with the road and its passersby. Always in the background, this night is the sea marks the unique atmosphere of these cities made between rigor and exuberance, freedom and confinement, strength and vulnerability.
