The photographs on Greece for 50 years by Robert McCabe from us for a nostalgic trip and moving. McCabe was one of those aliens who for millennia fall in love with Greece, sometimes to see, to understand it better than the Greeks themselves, he chose to photograph in black and white.
These pictures have long remained in drawers, as this amateur talent exercised another profession than photography. The photographs show a work that has nothing avantgarde, they are just close to it, adheres to the pleasures and emotions experienced by its author, which makes sincere and therefore attractive. Robert McCabe crosses a society often poor, but always dignified. He shows us the Acropolis which is not surrounded, as now, by the city. Athens breathing, as well as major sites around the country. The photographer met with archaeologists operating means which now seem rather rudimentary. This photo journey reflects the enthusiasm, the joy of discovery.
