L’arc sera parmi les nuages

Invited to the INSTANTS residency at Château Palmer, Henrike Stahl photographed the work of the winegrowers, immersing herself in their world. She observed young people from the suburbs of Bordeaux being trained in vineyard work. “I photographed them, I observed the gestures passed down, the techniques. One of the first things that struck me upon arriving here was the number of beginners engaging in the work of the land, supervised by more experienced winegrowers.”

Inspired by photographers like Nan Goldin, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Rineke Dijkstra, Henrike turned towards a humanist and timeless photography. She avoids sensationalism, choosing instead to depict the margins without stigmatization. She favors unexpected beauty and works with living materials, using techniques that do not distort reality.

For her project at Château Palmer, she experimented by integrating nature into her creative process, burying portraits or exposing them to natural elements, reflecting the interconnection between art, nature, and wine. Nature, according to her, is the ultimate curator of her exhibition, highlighting the power and influence of the natural environment on her art.

Henrike Stahl

Artiste, Photographe

Henrike Stahl, a German photographer, has divided her time between Paris and Berlin. Known for her simultaneously raw and delicate gaze, she explores identities in transition and marginal territories. Her series “Mon Roi” and “Macadam Cowboy” address themes such as masculinity and cultural diversity, sublime her subjects without betraying their essence. She uses photography to create dialogues and connect worlds often separated by physical barriers or prejudices. For her, marginality is at the heart of richness and diversity, a belief that reflects in her unique approach to photography.

Elisa Palmer, a graduate from the ENS of Lyon in information-communication, initially delved into the subject of emotions in the media. She turned towards journalism and fashion following a decisive internship at the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. In 2020, she became a freelancer, bringing her expertise in communication, marketing, and fashion. In September 2023, she took on a new challenge within the ESMOD group. Beyond her professional adventures, Elisa finds her true fulfillment in writing. She juggles slam poetry, rap, mini-fiction on social networks, and novels, which she starts with passion but often leaves unfinished.
