Jacques Vauclair debuted in photography as an operator in the prestigious studio Harcourt in 1946. Ten years later, he founded Studio Vauclair, close to the famous concert hall of the Olympia. It was in this studio, between 1956 and 1960, he became one of the most popular portrait of the capital.
During these 5 years it was mainly an opportunity to photograph the actors and actresses of the New Wave. Several of these stars have never posed in a professional studio. It was their first photographer. Jacques Vauclair est né à paris en 1926, il est décédé à Perpignan en 1999. En 1942, il fait ses débuts chez le célèbre Studio Harcourt où il photographie des stars. En 1956, il quitte Harcourt pour fonder le Studio VAUCLAIR. De 1956 à 1960, il sera l’un des photographes les plus recherchés. Plus tard, il délaissera la photo pour se consacrer à l’écriture et la chanson. Il composera ainsi plusieurs titres des répertoires d’Henri Salvador, Frank Alamo, Jacqueline François et Charles Trénet.
Gilles Vauclair "C’est en compagnie de mon père, que je fis la connaissance de vedettes du cinéma et de la chanson comme Jean Marais, Charles Trénet, Charles Aznavour. J’eus aussi la chance d’assister au tournage du film de Robert Déry La belle Américaine car mon père était le photographe de plateau. C’est aussi lui qui me donna le goût de la photographie que je pratique en amateur chevronné."
