The new edition of Planches Contact Festival opens in Deauville under the banner of intimacy—a theme that resonates with the very vocation of photography: to capture the invisible, to reveal what unfolds behind appearances. The artistic direction is led by Lionel Charrier and Jonas Rebib. From the gaze turned inward to the gaze cast upon others, this edition explores the many forms of closeness, relationships, tensions, and silence—in private space as in the landscape, in the body as in memory.

This year, the festival welcomes two major figures of the international photographic scene, presenting both a retrospective exhibition and a residency in Normandy: Arno Rafael Minkkinen, master of the body-as-landscape, offers a visual meditation in which the nude body becomes a vanishing line between self and world.

Between established photographers and new voices, between radical black-and-white and sensuous color, the 2025 edition of Planches Contact Festival composes a multifaceted narrative of intimacy, at human scale. An invitation to step into the images as into a room, a landscape, or a confidence.
