The work of Laurent Sfar is between art, design and architecture. In a logical absurdity, it upsets the form and function objects. It makes them obsolete but as revealed in a single gesture, their use and their social, political or exchange. Thus the artist, in personal accomplishments or in collaboration with Sandra Foltz, transformed objects as far apart from each other in appearance a bank note and a ping-pong but Both involve specific trading rules.
In other embodiments, it changes the boundaries between public space and private space and questioning social norms, political, symbolic and social attitudes which govern these two worlds (the creation of appointments of new population groups, the film of reactions of passersby before a present without receiver placed in the street, chandeliers in the interstices between houses, a man with laces three meters …).
