With this new book, Arnaud Claass returns to the form of the collection of short texts.
These notes describe the indefatigable exercise of his visual attention. In turn photographer at work, walker in nature or in the streets, he tries to clarify the conditions of his experience. He also returns to photographic works first, but also pictorial, cinematographic, videographic or new technologies, views or reviews in gallery, museum, on the page, on the screen.
As always, his writing is prolonged here and there, according to a vagabond thought, by tighter developments: he addresses both his perplexities as to the fate of the landscapes he passes through, the evolution of the judgment of taste, To the system of art and its teaching, than its sideration to the treatment of hot news by the mainstream media.
More than ever, much more than in the strict domain of art, it is to the centrality of photography that it is addressed here, in all its amplitude, as a means of considering the world and as the object of our own consideration.
His work is in numerous public and private collections including the Musée National d’Art Moderne (Pompidou Center), the European House of Photography, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Tokyo, Camerawork / Howard Stein Collection in New York.
In addition to his teaching at the ENSP of Arles, he was invited several years at the International Center of Photography (New York) and the Ecole des Arts Appliqués de Vevey.
It is currently at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dublin.
